Muay Thai, which translates to Thai boxing, is known as the art of eight limbs. Muay Thai is a system of combat that is more than 4 centuries old. During ancient times, the Thai people developed the art of Muay Thai into a combative system. With the utilization of hands, knees, elbows and shins, the Thai people were able to ward off enemies from other countries.
Today Muay Thai is the national sport of Thailand and is practiced throughout the world. Everyone from the aspiring Mixed Martial Artist to the everyday professional can enjoy the benefits of this exciting sport. Because of its popularity, more and more people are starting to recognize Muay Thai not only as a means of practical defense, but a great way to get in shape and burn off some stress. During our training sessions, heavy bags and various training pads are used to help students gauge the effectives of their power, speed, endurance, and most of all technique and form.
TIGER’s Muay Thai Total Training also incorporates strength and conditioning concepts. Students will find classes, fun, safe and inspiring. Although traditional Muay Thai does not have a rank system, we have developed one so students can track their progress. Students also have the opportunity to compete if they so desire. If you are looking for a way to get in the best shape of your life while having fun, then Muay Thai Total Training is for you!
The term “Karate” literary means “empty hand”, one’s ability to defend oneself without a weapon. Millions of people around the world enjoy studying the art of Karate. Some may mistakenly believe the applications practiced in Karate are ineffective and not relevant in today’s time, but TIGER’s ability to take traditional techniques and translate them into modern applications is the hallmark of our program. Students at TIGER are taught from the disciplines of Shitoh Ryu and Shotokan Karate Do. Besides the physical benefits, students find our classes to be great for stress relief, confidence, discipline, and self-defense. TIGER has also incorporated the art of Kindai Ryu Jiu Jitsu in its Karate program. Kindai Ryu Jiu Jitsu implements pressure points, chokes, holds, joint manipulations and various take downs. By incorporating Jiu Jitsu and Karate together, students achieve a holistic martial art experience.
TIGER Combative System is one of our most popular programs for adults. This program combines three major disciplines: Muay Thai, Filipino Martial Arts, and Jiu Jitsu. Jiu Jitsu was developed as a system of self defense used by the Samurai of ancient Japan. In 1914, Jiu Jitsu Master Esai Maeda immigrated to Brazil and taught his art to Carlos and Helio Gracie. Helio Gracie refined the art to match his small size and the two set out to prove the effectiveness of Gracie Jiu Jitsu in early MMA fights in Brazil. This samurai spirit made its way to America in the early 90’s through the Gracie Challenge and UFC. Using submission holds, defensive positioning and leverage, Royce Gracie defeated all his opponents to become the first UFC champion. Since then Jiu Jitsu has become one of the most popular martial arts on the planet and is practiced by men, women, and children of all age-levels. Jiu Jitsu, which literally means the “the gentle art,” is a method of self-defense that utilizes various forms of grappling techniques. This includes throws and sweeps as well as joint manipulations, chokes, and other submission holds. Jiu Jitsu teaches students to use an attacker’s energy against him or her, rather than directly opposing it.
In the tradition of Helio Gracie and the Gracie Family, TIGER Martial Arts provides a quality Jiu Jitsu geared towards effective self-defense for real-life situations. Learn the techniques that allowed the Gracie family to dominate “no holds barred” matches for more than 40 years. In just one lesson we can teach you how to escape difficult holds and double your physical power through leverage and technique. TIGER’s instructors are under the direction of Gracie 8th degree Black Belt Pedro Sauer, Gracie Black Belt Frank Cucci, and 6th degree Black Belt in Judo, Mike Yockum.
